Hire the hall

Indoor rooms hired singly or opened out into one, plus a grass pitch outside. The whole hall seats up to 300, the canteen twenty, and the field is hired by the hour for football and other sports. Rates start at £20 an hour, and every price below is where a quote starts rather than a final figure. There is nothing to pay to make an enquiry.

Rooms, capacities and prices

The large and small halls are divided by a movable partition, so they can be hired separately or opened out into one room. The canteen and the field are hired on their own, and the whole building can be booked exclusively.

What you will actually pay

The rates above are the standard hourly rates, and they are where a quote starts. What you pay depends on the room, the day and how long you need it. Reduced rates are available for local residents, community groups and registered charities: ask when you enquire and we will tell you what you qualify for. Some events also need a refundable damage bond, which we will tell you about before you commit rather than at the payment stage.

Setting up and clearing away

Setting up and clearing away is charged at the same hourly rate as the room. It is not free time either side of your booking. Tell us how long you need for both and we will build it into the quote, so the figure we give you is the figure you pay.

Exclusive Venue Hire

The whole building booked out for you, with no other hires running alongside. Chosen for weddings, large family celebrations and all-day conferences.

Everything is included: both halls, the activity and meeting rooms, the commercial kitchen, the canteen, the foyer where your guests arrive, and the field outside.

The 400 figure is the whole building in use at once: up to 300 in the whole hall, with the activity room and the meeting room running alongside it. If everyone needs to be seated together in one room, the number to work to is 300, not 400. Tell us how your day is shaped and we will confirm the layout before you book.

Our largest single space, made by opening the partition between the large and small halls. Suited to weddings, large parties, conferences and community celebrations.

The main side of the hall on its own, with the partition closed. A good fit for parties, receptions, conferences and large group activities, and it leaves the small hall free for another booking.

A self-contained room for smaller groups: children’s activities, exercise and craft classes, workshops and rehearsals. It can run alongside a booking in the halls without the two getting in each other’s way.

A quieter room laid out boardroom style, suited to committee meetings, training sessions, interviews and one-to-one appointments.

A smaller room set out with tables and chairs, next to the kitchen. It suits groups eating together, refreshments alongside a booking in the halls, or a meeting where people need a table in front of them.

Seats up to 20. Kitchen access can be arranged, so tell us if you plan to serve food.

The Field

  • No floodlighting, so daylight hours only

The grass pitch behind the hall, with goalposts up. Hired on its own by football teams and other groups wanting to be outside, and included when the whole venue is booked.

The pitch has no floodlighting, so bookings are daylight hours only. Grass also takes the weather as it finds it: we may have to call a booking off if the ground is unfit to play on, and we will tell you as early as we can.

What to expect when you book

  1. Send an enquiry. It costs nothing, and it does not hold the date.
  2. We reply within 1 working day with whether the date is free and what it would cost.
  3. If you want to go ahead, we confirm the booking in writing. Until then the date is not yours.
  4. First time hiring with us? We will ask to see photo ID before we confirm.
  5. A deposit secures the date. The balance is due before the event.
  6. Some events need a refundable damage bond. We tell you before you commit.
  7. Your hire time includes setting up and clearing away, so book enough hours for both.
  8. You are welcome to come and look round the hall before you decide.
  9. If you need to cancel, tell us as early as you can and we will tell you where you stand.
  10. Regular bookings are agreed for a set period and reviewed before renewal, so that slots stay available to new groups too. We will always talk to you before anything about your booking changes.

Worth asking about

A few things depend on your event, and on rules the trustees are still setting down in writing. Ask about them when you enquire and we will give you a straight answer rather than leave you to guess:

  • Alcohol: whether you need a Temporary Event Notice, or whether we cover it
  • Curfew and noise: what time music has to stop
  • Decorations: candles, confetti, balloon arches, and what can go on the walls
  • Catering: bringing in your own caterers, and what the kitchen has in it
  • Parking overflow: where cars go once the 32 on-site spaces are full
  • Insurance: what you need in place before the day
