What we are raising
£250,000
to turn Northfield Hall into a community hub that is open and useful every day of the week, not only when something is booked.
Every donation counts towards it, whether it is £5 or £500.
Northfield Hall has been at the heart of our community since 2012. It is not council-run: it is owned and kept going by the community itself, through Brackenhall Community Trust. Today we have an opportunity to turn it into a vibrant, welcoming community hub that serves local people every day of the week, not just during events.
Our vision is a place where children can play, parents can connect, residents can learn new skills, local groups can thrive, and everyone feels welcome.
What your donation pays for
Your donation will help us develop Northfield Hall into a modern community destination, including:
- A high-quality indoor play space for babies, toddlers and older children.
- A welcoming café serving great coffee, fresh food and affordable meals.
- Safe spaces for parents, grandparents and carers to meet, relax and build friendships.
- Activities for babies, toddlers, children, teenagers and young adults, from stay-and-play and sensory sessions to youth clubs.
- Support groups for first-time mums, dads and new parents.
- Fitness, wellbeing and mental health classes.
- Flexible space for local charities, schools, businesses and community groups, plus coworking and meeting rooms for freelancers and remote workers.
- Educational workshops, training and employment support.
- Inclusive activities for people of all ages and abilities.
- Improvements to the building that make it more accessible, energy efficient and sustainable.
These are ambitions, not building work about to start. Nothing is funded yet and no dates are set. If you are hiring the hall for a wedding next summer, the building will look exactly as it does in our photographs.
Why it matters
Our aim is to reduce loneliness, support families, improve wellbeing, create opportunities for local people and provide a safe place where everyone belongs. Any surplus we generate goes straight back into Northfield Hall and the services it houses, so the community benefits for years to come.

Most of the difference between those two figures is depreciation on the building: an accounting entry that spreads the cost of the centre across its lifetime. It is not money leaving the bank. Hall hire covers the day-to-day running costs, and we keep it deliberately affordable so local groups can actually use the place. Donations are what pay for the improvements above.
Make a donation
Donations go through Zeffy, a donation platform that charges charities no fees, so 100% of what you give reaches the Trust. You can give once, or monthly, quarterly or yearly. We never handle your card details on this site.
Donate to the TrustOne thing worth knowing before you click: Zeffy will offer you the option of adding a small contribution to Zeffy itself at checkout. You can set that to zero. Either way, 100% of your donation reaches the Trust.
Other ways to give
Standing order
A few pounds a month, reliably, is worth more to us than the same amount once. Ask us for the Trust's bank details and we will set it up with you.
In memory of someone
Many families have marked a funeral or a wake here. If you would like donations in someone's memory to come to the hall, we will make that straightforward.
A gift in your will
A legacy, however small, keeps a community building standing for the next generation. Your solicitor will need our charity number, 1123920.
Business sponsorship
Local businesses can sponsor a room or an activity, with your name on it and on this website. Get in touch and we will talk through what works.
Volunteer
The Trust is run by local volunteers, and there is always more to do than there are hands to do it: helping at events, gardening and tidying the outside, decorating, sitting on a committee, or being the person who answers the phone. Tell us roughly what you could offer and how much time you have, and we will come back to you.
The other thing that keeps the hall open is people using it. Hiring a room for a party, a class or a meeting puts money straight into the building.
